    Tube-a-rific!

That is the most hilarious thing I've seen all day. :D What a little chubb!

    Hay Racks

I use one of those ceramic dust baths as a hay holder (the kind that has the little ears on it, but is actually too small to work as a dust bath for most chins). I just stuff it full of hay and it works really well at keeping the mess down.

    Your FAVOURITE book EVER?

Same here! And I also read it for the first time at about age 10. I can't even count the number of times I used it for book reports over the years. :D I also love the Chronicles of Narnia, as well as the first two books from C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra --...

Labradoodles were the trend last year...

I don't think a lot of these people are even trying to make "new breeds". I think many of them just want to breed their dog and it's a lot easier to just breed her to the neighbors' bloodhound than it would be to go out and find a suitable mate of the same breed, or better yet, get her spayed...

    What you get-rent wise?

    Horse movement

An upright shoulder decreases shock absorption and restricts the ability of the leg to swing forward, generally causing the horse to have a jarring, choppy stride. It also increases the horse's risk of developing lameness. I agree with Spoof that the horse's shoulder looks horribly upright in...

    Whats in a name?

I think of the Spanish word for hair (pelo). :P

I'm part of the stupiest freecycle group Part II

I recently got a reply to a Freecycle posting that I had put up over SIX MONTHS ago! Do people know how to read a calendar??

    Chins and Rabbits

Really? Wow. I guess I'd better switch my 9 and 10 year old rabbits off the Purina that they've been fed their whole lives then! Who knew it's actually a *bad* feed, despite all evidence to the contrary! As for the House Rabbit Society: while they have been helpful in educating the public as...

    Raisins

Personally, I dislike the fact that people use the "raisins are toxic to dogs" reason to not feed raisins. It's fallacious logic that is not grounded in any type of proof. Do these people also discourage humans from eating raisins? Our digestive tracts are MUCH more similar to those of dogs than...

    Funny Chin Nicknames

I often refer to them as "chinny-bo-binnies" or, if I'm feeling extravagant, "chinchilla-bo-billas". Kahlua is often turned into "Kahlulu" and Bella becomes "Bell-bell". I've also been known to combine the two into "Kah-lula-bell".

    Do you believe this

You've never been around a research scientist before, have you? I think the guy was very professional in his answer, and I can easily see his point of view on the issue. Of course I don't feed fresh vegetables, but I don't think the fact that they do makes them horrible chin owners. These are...

    Housewarming hors d'oeuvres?

These look delightfully fattening (and of course, tasty): http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/12/flashback_1981_-_holiday_bacon_appetizers/

    WD40 and hamsters

    Um, what?

    WD40 and hamsters

I always used a dab of vegetable oil on mine. Worked like a charm and was not dangerous to the hamster.

I could smell urine at the door. (Warning: rant worthy.)

Uhh, you didn't fail those chinchillas. Their owner did. I don't even know why some people have animals when they obviously don't care about them.

    What do you miss?

I loved the "old" Littlest Pet Shops. I remember that you could send in the Proofs of Purchase if you bought so many and they'd send you a free one. I loved doing that! My mom recently dragged out my old LPS horses for a friend's little girl to play with. The kid LOVED them, apparently. I think...

    Feeding the strays..

I guess stay away from nature then; tons of animals get killed in the wild all the time for something that's not their fault. It's not the antelope's fault that the lion gets hungry. Sometimes the most humane thing to do with an overpopulation of animals is to cull them; otherwise you end up...

    Future Chin Owner (maybe)...

Their diets are similar to rabbit diets EXCEPT that rabbits can be given treats like vegetables and fruits, whereas chins should never be given fruits or vegetables. Just pellets, hay and water... and perhaps the occasional rosehip, plain cheerio or shredded wheat square. Yes, they can bite...
