Poptart has been on fleece for three nights now. I broke down bc I'm sick of paper bedding sticking to him and getting all in my floor. He still licks, chews and I've caught him anointing when I change his liner and blankets. I also bought him a cozy cup for inside his igloo. He loves that...
I am sooo sorry! Poor Poptart! I hope my 'tart can live as good a life as your sweet 'tart did. I'm honored that they share such a great name! He has big hedgie 'poo shoes' to fill that's for sure. :)
He seems to be much hPpier. Guess he's not busy itching and scratching all the time. He is also much less huffy. We have been dealing with mites since right after I got him so his first three weeks he has been well behaved but kind of huffy. I assumed it was normal. Now, he is not cage...
He is great. I was discussing him with my parents and when their cat was a bitty kitty they used revolution and had some left so I took that and used a few drops on poptart and he has cleared right up. One of the vets I talked to wanted to use ivermectin and the other would charge $200 nearly so...
Kalandra has been using a powder over her hedgie's food. Carnivore care? Maybe that's it? It is a supplement added to the food. Check out her recent posts and see if you can find more info on it. It may be an added extra to her mush diet. Several people here could probably comment on it. Good...
it looks like poptarts dry skin before i realized he had mites. Not trying to scare you bc I know nothing about quilling at ALL but he had that dry spot on his jaw/chin area. Now, it's on his belly and legs..hopefully it is dry skin from quilling.
Poor James. Luckily poptart was old enough to not be going through quilling when I got him. He lost a few, maybe 10 that I saw but I think that's normal. Unfortunately I believe (undiagnosed) that he has mites. I'm sure james' quilling sores and pains will come to pass in a few weeks.
I am calling the vet tomorrow but have been doing more research on mite treatments.
Ivermectin?
Mite baths? Diluted?
Revolution?
A mild Cat Flea/Tick Spray w/Pyrethrin?
I do not want to let a vet do anything to him until I know but I need first hand advice and opinions. Some say ivermectin can...
I came home earlier tonight after work and got poptart out of his cage to play and I felt something on his tummy. It was gooey and smooth and he's been licking it I've suspected the last couple days (I guessed from the flax seed oil I used for dry skin.) but he has rubbed or scratched or scraped...
He wouldn't hardly move on it. Just sat there and licked it kinda. My little weirdo. I am not a fan of pelletted bedding bc of my horse. If you use pellet bedding in a stall and the horse consumes it, it expands when wet and it can stretch the stomach of the horse. I am skeptical it would do the...
I am new and have explained some in chat about my poptart(2)'s bedding issues.
He arrived on Aspen -began itching with the brand I used so I've tried a couple.
Then went to recycled paper - worried about paper cuts from the zig zag paper and it scrunched and crunched too loudly at night. He...
