Our sympathy and prayers go out to you. Yoshi was blessed by having humans that did their very best to provide care for him.

Thank you for all the well wishes, hugs, and kind words. We laid Yoshi to rest between two trees in our backyard and I hope to plant a daffodil over top of him so I can be reminded of him and watch them multiply for many years to come.

It's really hard because there's still little bits of Yoshi things lying around our house and I haven't been back to the room with his cage in a few days. I think when I'm ready I'll start to tidy up.

Still waiting to hear back from the vet about Yoshi's blood work.

The vet contacted me today and it turns out he did have a degenerative muscle disease that was targeting his esophagus in particular. On top of his inability to swallow his liver was also being affected.

It explains the excessive drooling, the inability to eat/swallow/chew and the pulling at his tongue.

The blood work has finally given us answers and now I can fully grieve that it was the right decision.
