Yay! Finally got a chinchilla!!! :d

I have been wanting a chinchilla since I was 5, Im now 24 and my wife finally agreed after a month straight of me annoying her until she let me get one lol.
I know a little about them like their daily dust baths, food etc. I have a question though: How do I make them love me lol. I want it to stop being afraid of me, yet I dont want to try to handle him too much and stress him out. I also still need a name, he is grey. I just got him today and want to do everything right so that it doesent hate me.

It will take some time to build his trust level. Right now he thinks you might want to eat him. If you take your time with him, you will develop a strong lasting bond. Let him set the pace. Start by just sitting by his cage and talking to him. Read him a book. When you are working in his cage, move slowly and keep talking to him. He will soon become curious and start approaching you. Lay your hand palm up on the floor of the cage and let him climb around on it and up your arm without grabbing him. Eventually he will trust you enough to let you pick him up. It takes time and patience but you will be rewarded with a very trusting and loving chin.

It will take a lot of time and patience. I wouldn't try to force it and keep trying to handle the chin daily. I also wouldn't give a dust bath daily as it can dry them out. Once a week is fine.
