I have to say, despite the height issue, I am thrilled with the 143/ 3-level. It gives them soooo much room to run and play, and I enjoy watching them. I can easily get into the top level with a step stool when I need to, like once a week to shake out the liner. They absolutely love it and utilize every inch of it! It gives them so much more room without taking up more floor space. And if I ever have to in case of emergency or attitude issues, I can always divide into three separate (stacked) cages.

I don't have a problem rolling it out on carpet to vacuum behind it - so far, but bigger wheels would probably be nice.

The four new boys are just in the 142 at this point, and I can really see a tremendous play space difference between that and the 143 (with my original 3). They'll get the 143 added this weekend. My only question (to myself) is whether or not to add the stand. I think I like it better without the stand, but the first cage has it on already (what a pain to uninstall it!) and they would look a bit strange with the two cages at different heights.

I have to agree on getting heavy duty wheels. This is one of the reasons I sold my 143, as I ended up going through 3 wheels in less than a month and it was pretty much the final straw. I loved the cage, and planned to redo the chin room, but where I planned to put it my daylights hung down too far for the 143, so I sold it. Ironically, when I moved the cage it didn't work out with even the 142 due to my air conditioner being blocked, so maybe I should have kept it ;-) I think Crysta would kill me though.

So how do you make it into a 3rd cage. Sure wish mid-west explained that. I bought the 143 for a 3rd cage - Anyone have an extra top for sale??

Essentia pointed some things out about the FN143 to me before I made a big mistake.Just want to let you know too. The FN 143 does not come with a top cage panel, you HAVE to take the one off of the FN 142,put your 143 on top of it and then use the top from the 142 for your new cage top. I was sooo thankful she let me know this. The 141 is only slightly higher priced(about $10 I think).I ended up ordering it instead because I liked the option of still having ability to use a separate single FN in another room for quarantine and I wanted to always have the option available to me to separate my two bonded boys if needed(all I have to do is put the cover over the FN142 acess cover). Just food for thought. And the more I thought about it, I didn't wnat the cage to be so high for cleaning and acess to chinnie.:)
