Wheel Whoops

So I ordered a 16 inch wheel for my chin, but it's too big to get through the cage door. Does anyone have any ideas as far as cutting the cage entrance a little bigger and not having the edges being sharp so my chin can't hurt himself? I have about 1 inch leeway to cut on 3 sides, so I can probably make it work if I cut it. My biggest concern is that he will hurt himself on the cut metal.

Is there a different way you could get the wheel in? I know some cages you can remove the top from the bottom, is that an option?
