In training for this big walk next year, and basically trying to lose my lard butt I haven't been drinking soda anymore. And even though my soda of choice has always been diet, I feel good drinking more water and iced tea.
But the other day I treated myself to the best root beer in the world----
Diet A & W. I love root beer, but only A & W and Sprecher. All root beer is not created equal--who's with me on this?

The stuff you get at the A&W restaurants is the best, you can get it to go in 1/2 and 1 gallon milk jug like containers. I don't remember if I've had the diet (my usual) or regular. This just isn't the same stuff you buy in cans at the store.

:dance3:

I'm not much of a root beer drinker. I'm just now starting to like it. I had some diet stuff that left a bad aftertaste. But I do remember going to an A&W Drive In when I was a kid with my family and I was the only one who didn't have the root beer. But everyone else said it was the best.

Sioux City! Comes in glass bottles. Nothing tastes better than pop out of glass bottles.

Dad's. It might be an East Coast or Mid West only brand, but it's by far my favorite. Though, I did have one draft from a pizza joint in Lewiston, CO that rocked my world too. Can't remember the name of the place... Somewhere on Pearl St.

OMG Spelling...

I never drink pop, but when I do it's root beer! Mmmmm..

I sample every variety I can get my hands on. My favorite is Abita hands down. It has a real nice bite and aftertaste to it, smooth with kick! It's hard to come by even here though, it seems to be seasonal.

A&W & Barq's are two of the most watered down I've had, Thomas Kemper is kind of in the middle. IBC is on the higher end, I'll take it over the others. Barq's has gotten so bad I'll take sprite if I don't have an option (eg, they don't offer water). What is it with parties these days not offering water... ?only soda and beer!

The last one I tried was Goose Island rootbeer and it was really kinda rough, not very sweet but had a decent kick. I've never run across Spreacher? Is it local to you?

So there you go... another of my bad habits! :p

Spoof-geez I can never remember your name BTW what is the story behind your username?
Anyway, did you go to the Grocery Outlet when you were in Hermiston? Does anyone else have one? I LOVE that place, you can get IBC and others for like 25-50 cents a bottle. Not to mention all the other great food prices. My last deal was a reg. size jar of Best Foods Mayo for $1.25

Ugh! I dont know how you guys can drink Root Beer! I cant get passed the smell of milky minty medicine!

So does it taste how it smells?

Hands down, Saranac Root beer. Though I'm not sure you can find it much out of the northeast.

Trouble! MuahahaHAHAHAHA!

Name of my first chin, shoot that was 10 years ago. Time flies when you're having fun.

We had grocery outlets in Everett but I never made it to any. Had a Winco in Moscow, ID and I lived in that store. They had the best baked goods! I don't buy pop unless it's a brand of root beer I haven't seen, or last month I picked up some Abita. I've bought it three times this year. :p I just finished up the last bottle a few weeks ago, I really don't have any urge to drink it, just taste it. The Abita will stay perfectly fizzy in the bottle for up to 4 days if you screw the cap back on.

It's expensive though! Abita is $5.++ a 6-pack, I see IBC at Walmart for $3.50 on occasion.

Eeeew! Mayo! Eeeewww!

I used to like root beer as a kid. Don't really like it anymore, particularly because if you have it with a meal, the flavor is too strong and overpowers your food. But I don't mind it if it is in a frosty glass bottle! I don't remember which I like better. DO you have MUGGS rootbeer up north?

But....my FAVORITE is Cream Soda!!!! I haven't ever seen a fast food place or restaurant carry it though. Why doesn't sonic have it? A &W cream soda is good, but LOTS of caffeine. Jones is super sweet...too much maybe. IBC is decent. I also like "orange cream" soda (not orange soda) and Welch's grape and strawberry sodas. Mostly I drink regular Coke. It Texas it is soda, soft drink, or coke (generically), never pop or soda-pop :)

Dr. Pepper (from Texas) is the drink of choice here it seems...I like Coke a lot better (not as thick). Pepsi products (which some food places only carry), suck entirely and are considered watery.

It's pop. Anything else is just weird. I don't pay attention to what anybody else out here calls it because, after all, they call sloppy joe a "tavern." First time I heard it I thought, huh? I don't want to go to a BAR.

Cream soda is hands down my favorite pop ever. Again, Sioux City Cream Soda. They look like beer bottles. I used to have people comment on them all the time when I took them to work back in Ohio. I also love Barq's red cream soda, but we only get that very occasionally. It's only in one or two places in the western side of the state. When I make a trip east, I always stock up.
