My largest litter was quads, but only two survived because they were the "bullies" and they killed the other two who were the runts. I had a mom die in labor and then I went in to see what went wrong and she had 5 kits in her! But 1 was huge, 2 were normal, 1 was a runt, and the other was already mummifying/decaying. :( I felt really bad for that mommy (Annie). I felt helpless with just watching her die because there was nothing I could do.

My mother breeds chinchillas and her standard female, LuLu had four kits. All are healthy and she did not have to hand feed them. She had 3 standards and 1 ebony. They are precious!

That's great that all 4 kits survived. I have had problems in the past with not all kits in multiple litters making it, especially if there is a kit who is smaller in the group so I started hand feeding goats milk just twice a day to multiple litters and leaving a little bit of goats milk in a glass water bottle in case any of them wants it. There is one litter that I'm positive all would not have made it if I hadn't done this. I have seen mom drinking the goats milk too. I'm going to ask my vet about this today just to make sure it's 100% okay.

I've had a litter of 4, but only 2 survived because the two dominant babies bit and killed the two runts before I could intervene :( Then I've had one litter of 5, all were doing well with just a little hand feeding until the mom went downhill really fast and passed, then the babies went into shock and 2 of the 5 passed within a day, 2 more after being with their foster mom, and the last one survived and her name was Sterling. I've had multiple litters of 3 that have been successful though! :)

This is not my litter but this weekend I met a set of 4 week old quads. The breeder did supliment for the first week but then was able to stop. All 4 and momma are doing great and they were so cute.

My largest was quads. Normally I need to step in and offer some help, however my last litter of quads was out of my black female who normally gives me trips...she was able to handle all 4 babies without any help from me.
