Congrats Sarah on winning! Can't wait to see pix of of the kits! Hurry up........put on a little mood music and let's get those two together! lol
What a great story about the little girl!
Congrats to all the chins who won & all the peeps who won prizes!

I wanted to add that I agree with Sue. Every judge is different. I noticed things that they said or comments about liking or disliking something that I hadn't heard from other judges before (youngsters in the show, brown in an ebony etc) Other judges might have treated these chins differently. But it is all good learning information.

Thanks Michelle. I actually split the pair for the time being. I put the PSK beige female with my beige Somavia beige male that took color class champion. I'm hoping for a really nice homo beige from them.

I have a few pictures that my husband took during judging. I'll download them off my camera and see if they are worth posting. (it's so hard to tell from the viewfinder)

Yeah, my hubby took LOTS of pictures. He's just got to put them on a disc for me to download here. Sorry, but Monday my car's brake light for the ABS came on and I had to take care of that along with getting the paperwork done. Pics are coming!!

Here's some pics:

First pic is GSC after judging, next to her is the Reserve Female. Then the males are judged for Champion male. Finally you see the GSC and her trophies, taking it all in stride and also a nap.

Sue,

You've got a couple of problems getting Randy to come out your way to judge.

First, getting him away from work for an hour is about impossible. You are a longgggg way away!!

Second, he's not a judge!

Congrats to all of the winners, by the way!!!

Well, then, Becky, maybe we can coax you out our way!! We'd love to get your opinion on our chins . . . seriously, I promised Carleen that our next "show" would be up in her territory, Alberta. She already has a judge and all of that, I will give her whatever support she needs. What I'm thinking is that if our income is steady and we keep doing well, that we could do a field day here in Washington as well, later in the year, and have our "President" share his knowledge or maybe one of our directors (ie, Becky West). Hey, it's 2010, all things are possible!

Just another quick note of encouragement, I had mentioned this at the show but wanted to punctuate it. I was seeing a lot of 1st places and above at the show, so I thought I'd count them and out of 86 entries there were 52 1st places and above, quite an achievement. This really shows the improvement you all have managed in your herds out here. I'm personally really pleased to see such quality in our animals, it's extremely exciting. Well done people!!

We thought it was great that a new breeder won the raffle for the pair of chinchillas. Everyone should be very happy for her and encouraging. It is wonderful to see new breeders (who really want to breed correctly) add quality chinchillas to their herds, regardless of the herd size. It benefits us all in that we have a larger gene pool from which to purchase outcrosses and new breeding stock. Had we been able to attend the show, we would have purchased raffle tickets to try to win them also and we have over 150 quality chinchillas in our herd. There are some very nice chinchillas and excellent genetic lines among breeders in the Pacific Northwest. Any new breeder who wants to start out with good quality chinchillas in this area can do very well buying locally. We are always happy to give new breeders local referrals any time.

Another note, I think everyone that participated understood what it takes to breed a chin that's a winner, they did it. And anyone who would try to use the momentum from this show to promote their own herd is not appropriate.

There are a lot of people here that have worked to get this chapter going without any benefit to themselves or their chins. I reject anyone else trying to make a profit from this chapter without being a participant.
