Ok, starting a new thread. :))

It will be at Ronda's;

81170 N Highway 395
Hermiston, OR 97838-6420

Date: TBD, late Sept/early Oct

Slightly edited reposting from earlier thread;
I do have plenty of Blue Cloud dust - around 10 tons of it. It's for sale $1.00 a pound and it comes in 50 lb bags.

If anybody is interested I have fresh cork screw willow branches as well as apple branches - no spray used on them.

Items available: flying saucer; willow chew branches; apple chew branches; hay/timmothy cubes; timmothy/field grass; pine chew blocks; water bottles; parts and pieces of new and used water systems; collars, new and used; chin snacks like animax, senior equine and other goodies.

I will be pulling together a list of chins that will be availble for purchase as well....Pick an animal out you are interested in purchasing, pay the show fee and get an opinon on the animal then decide if you want to purchase it or not. That way the club gets help and you get help too!

Email me with any questions or a wish list of chins and other items too at [email protected].

The field day is set for September 27th!

Sue is planning on bringing cages, lights and ribbons so we are all set to go again.

Entry fees will be $5 per animal for members and $7 per animal for non-members. Anyone just watching, the same price of $5/$7.

We will have a sandwich buffet same as last year for $5 per person. Sue said she will bring drinks at .50 each. There will be popcorn available by donation.

We are also planning on a chin raffle as everybody always wants to win a chin!!! Sue also has chin t-shirts available for sale. If you have anything to donate we can have a raffle table as well. Doesn't need to be chin related - just something interesting or fun for the group.

If anybody has requests now is the time to let us know what you want as time is getting short so we need to get this all done soon.

Tables are available for you to to sell stuff - just let me know and we can have one available for you.

Mark us on your calendars and plan to attend!

Hey guys,
I'm getting some more ribbons ordered today and will start looking for some raffle ideas. Anyone with donations, please email me at [email protected].

Ronda, do you have motels/hotels in the area? I need to make my reservations and I'm sure others will too.

Should be a big weekend and tons of learning for all!!

I Googled Hermiston, Oregon Hotels & Motels and came up with this link:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&s...&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=1

You can go and check out each hotel and read reviews. I did go through the phone book and get 800 numbers wherever possible so that you could save a bit on phone calls.

My address is 81170 N. Hwy. 395, Hermiston, OR, 97838. I am half way between Hermiston and Umatilla. Hotels on the North side of Hermiston are closer to me than the ones way out on the South side of Hermiston. If you look at the map on the above link I am located just below or South of Charlestown. Sorry, I didn't check prices or distances this year.

Anyone willing to donate a chin for a raffle? I'm still looking for donations for the field day. Holler if you have anything.

I took this driving up because I know a bunch of you are going to pass it a couple times.. heh.

The road is 55mph, and now that the guitar is yellow it blends into the grass.

Either the front brown building or the blue building next to it, there's three driveways, so if you miss one you've got time to hit the brakes and pop in the second or third. :p

Just thought I'd share...Costco members can save a little money if you want to stay at the Best Western and you book the reservation through Costco Travel. (http://www.costcotravel.com/#15_bestWesternHotels__BWIGENERIC20080314)

We stayed there two years ago. Its not the closest to Ronda's (on the other side of town, but its just a straight shot down 395) or the cheapest, but its nice, has a pool, a nice free breakfast and has a side door you can use that is closer to the rooms so you don't have to go through the lobby. ;) Denny's shares the parking lot with the hotel...not that I recommend eating there. Fridge and microwave in the rooms is nice.

Wow, the date is coming up fast. I didn't think there was any way I could afford to go even though I really wanted to. I'm not bringing any chins but I want to go because of the great time and I learned so much last year. So I came up with the idea I'd camp out. I'm sure I'm not the only one without much money so I thought I'd share my plan. The Wildhorse Casino is probably IDK 30 miles away but for $17.00 up to 4 people can stay in a teepee, that includes free use of showers, swimming pool and a shuttle bus to the casino.

So I came up with the idea I'd camp out.

lol, I've done this in Ronda's parking lot. No Tipi, but in the back of the truck.

Showers and swimming pool make it worth the $17, hate to scare people away with the smell...

Come to think of it, I'm surprised Ronda doesn't have a teepee, swimming pool and some slot machines lying around. She has everything else :neener:

LOL - well my brother does have a kachinko (sp) machine he's had for years. Their might be an old tent in the trunk of my car too... No teepee and no pool, sorry, but I do have a sprinker you can all run through. Don't worry about the mud, we can just set it up on the concrete slab.

Seriously, if you want to sleep in your car there is plenty of parking behind the buildings away from the freeway.

I had never heard about Wild Horse renting out teepees, how cool is that idea!

Entry fees for the West Coast Field Day will be $5 per animal for members, $7.50 for non-members and those just watching. Memberships will be available at the registration as always however.

Lunch can be purchased there, sandwich meat and such will be available for $5, sodas for 50 cents.

Raffles for the field day are as follows:

There will be a 50/50 raffle where 50% of the total tickets in the pot will go to the winner of the ticket drawn and 50% goes to the chapter.

I'm in the process of negotiating with a large and prominent ranch for a matched pair of breeders. More to come as I work out the kinks and I'll let you know the ranch once finalized.

Ronda has donated a chinchilla from her herd as well to be raffled off.

There will also be miscellaneous other items for sale as well, misc. chin supplies, and an embroidered shawl (picture to come soon) for raffle valued at $100.

ALL RAFFLE TICKETS WILL BE $5, 5 for $20. It's just easier that way. Online tickets can be purchased by emailing Claire Russell, our secretary, at [email protected] and using paypal. You will not be sent your tickets but we will print your name on them and you can let us know in your email where you want your tickets to be deposited. Cut off for buying tickets online will be Friday September 25th at 12:00 noon. Tickets can be bought all day at the Field Day however until the drawing at the end of the show.

Here we go!!

Please Respond!

Can we have a head count of anybody coming to show? I need to figure out how much food to purchase.

Please respond here or to me personally at [email protected]

Thanks!

Ronda

Hey Ronda, I emailed you but haven't heard back so I'll post here. 3 for lunch from us. And would you like help setting up on Saturday? If so, what time would like us there? Let me know.

Due to lack of participation this field day has been canceled. There are only 4 people planning on showing chins and that is not enough people/chins to hold a show. We've had some people cancel due to car problems and money problems.

If anybody still wants to come to visit or pick something up I will be here on Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It would also be great if you would let me know you are planning on coming. Alison said she was still coming but only to pick up some dust. Sue is coming to pick up chins.

Maybe next year we can do another field day. Lets all hope the economy is in better shape by then.
