Hello everyone! I've been very worried about my chinchilla :( At Monday's night he fell from the stairs in 2nd floor right to 1st floor. We couldn't take him to vet that night because none of then work at night. I stayed up with him all night and I noticed that he was pretty calm and kept touching his nose with his paw. He sneezed quite a bit too. When morning came we took him to the vet right away. The vet said he looks fine, but he prolly hit his nose a little bit, that's why he keeps sneezing. She gave him an injection that would clear up his nose. He stopped sneezing and touching his nose, but he's still pretty calm and that's why I'm very worried :( Nothing else is wrong, really. He eats his food, treats, hay, he drinks, he bathes in his dust, he reacts to us. He walks and hops around just like he used to, just slowly. Vet said it's probably from the stress because like I said everything else is fine. I'm just very worried and I wanted to ask what do you think ? Should I be worried about him and take him to vet again, or does he just need to rest for few more days? :(

What kind of an injection did she give him? If he hit his nose, no shot is going to "clear it up." It's bruised.

I would let him rest and keep an eye on him. I would pay close attention to his habits - eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, and energy level. I would also keep him confined to his cage for a little while, just in case he has pulled muscles or tendons from the fall. Gradually let him out for playtime a little at a time until he builds up to normal again.

Be sure, especially, that you are monitoring what's going in and what's coming out. Put paper towels down in his cage if you have to, count his food, and mark his water bottle. The first thing that shows a chin is not doing well is their eating and drinking. Next comes not pooping.

Thank you for your response :) After he fell, I held him for about 15-25 minutes before putting him back to his cage and I noticed that he sneezed out a little bit of blood out his nose. Nothing more than one tiny drop of blood if not less. There was this silent whistling sound comming out of his nose too. I told that to the vet and after checking him she said that he probably just hit his nose when he fell since nothing else seems to be wrong. She didn't tell what exactly she's giving to him but she said it clear out his nose if there's any blood left in there. She also told us to come for check up and another injection the day after. The vet advised us to keep an eye on him to see will there be anything wrong. She also said that he may act little bit weird because of all of the stress that he had. Today is 2nd day after 2nd injection and his nose doesn't make any whistling sounds anymore and he doesn't seem to be rubbing it. His eating and drinking seems to be pretty normal right now. Yesterday he didn't seem to drink much but today I saw him drink from his bottle and the bottle also seems way emptier. I believe his eating is fine since I see and hear him eating his hay and pellets during the day and night time. He takes any treats we give him as well. His poops concern me a bit. They seem to be pretty small. From what I tried to search it says that this could also be because of stress? And what really concerns me the most. He always slept alot during the day but now he seems to sleep even more. At night he doesn't sleep but he to sit calmly. He's always responding to us and he seems to be interested on what's going on in the room just that he used to hop around alot in his cage at night and at the moment he's not doing that. I'm sleeping in his room since his fall and I can hear him doing stuff in his cage like eating his pellets, hay, walking, hopping on shelf, chewing his toys so I'm sure that he's not just laying there. I wake up every few hours too to see what is he doing. I'm not sure, maybe I'm just over reacting? Maybe he just needs a little bit of time to relax ?

Wow is the guy doing? Sounds like he just bonked his nose. What does the vet do an injection of? Seems strange they would do an injection for a fall.

I bet he's just fine now right?
