Ok wow I didn't mean to start the faraccus but I appreciate the inputs of all. I guess the biggest thing I didn't understand was how almost everything I've read has the day by day approach usually 3-4 days before trying to intiate contact or giving treat. Then this I discovered this curveball and wanted to make sure I didn't make any new owner mistakes. I look at them the same way I do my own children and they will be spoiled and loved just as much as their 2-legged "siblings". I have spent numerous hours researching ever since my Wife and I decided to bring more "kids" to the family. So when I see something needs clarification for me I will post.
Thanks again to all of you
and sorry if any feather's were ruffled

Don't worry about the feathers :)). As with anything there will be differing opinions about how to do things. That is what is great about a forum, you get a wide variety of opinions, not just one or two people preaching to you that you have to do it a certain way. Ultimately you have to do what is best for you and your chinchilla because we/they are all different. Don't worry, if you are doing something blatantly wrong and post about it, we have no problems airing our opinions about it .

Karnage - YOU ruffled no feathers. As Jean Marie said, this site is about the sharing of information and ideas, it's not a static site where you do is get to read one person's opinion. I think you'll find from reading this thread, that pretty much all but one person disagrees with the Chincare.com assessment on how to handle a distraught chin. The thread took on a life of it's own, but it was not in any way aimed at you. I've always thought that particular site was a bit too bloated with their own self-importance, so seeing their stupidity posted here irritated me. It always annoys me when something like that is read by many people and they take it to be gospel, when truly experienced breeders/rescuers/and pet owners find it to be a load of crap, but can't refute it.

Eric - I know you weren't talking about breeders. You were asking where all "this" came from and I suggested you read a little deeper on those little blue links throughout all that mess of babble. That is THE most annoying site I have ever had the misfortune to be on. It's garbled and confusing and it looks like a box of Crayola's threw up on it. If someone was actually there to look for information, they would need a CAT scan by the time they left to see if they had developed an aneurysm from eye strain.

That aside, following your comments point by point, you are basically agreeing with what the rest of us have said. Obviously at some point you're going to have to touch a chin, but not to the point of making it hysterical and broken down. That's all we were trying to say as well.

Ok thank God we got this all cleared up Tunes. Sorry for adding to the confusion myself everyone. I misunderstood a lot of what was said and I guess I didn't make myself very clear either. Sorry again guys. Karnage you didn't ruffle any feathers don't worry about it lol. We have disagreements and misunderstandings on here from time to time but the exchange of different ideas is what makes this site great even if we all get a little frustrated with each other from time to time.
