so yesterday i decided to rearrange gizmo's shelves a bit, just changed the length on both of them. pretty much just reversed his cage.

and now he seems to be upset? he keeps toppling over his hidey house and continuously runs laps over all his ledges.

i dont want this to be stressing him out, so should i just put it back to how it was?

im also taking measurements right now to give to my friend who's gonna build me some shelves and hopefully another hidey house or bed. i want all his shelves to be wooden so its not as noisey as the wire ones and so he can have more sturdy surfaces. but will that upset him too?

he's so high maintenance! for instances, he insisted on being let out for a third time today and now hes laying on my silky sheets. what a prince! lol
:rolleyes2:

but yes, any advice?

Most chins I've found like having their cage rearranged as it gives them a new way of looking at it I think. I'd say leave it that way for a day or so and if he still seems really upset about it, change it back. But he may be running around because he is just exploring how it's laid out now.
I'd say just leave it for a bit and see if he settles down.

I do suggest changing out the shelves for wood ones if you're using wire ones. Being on wire all the time isn't as good for their feet, and the wood gives him more to chew on.

My chins sometimes don't like some things being moved around. If some things have been moved around, I notice that they would drag them back to where they were before.

I agree--when my chins have been upset with me over rearranging or cleaning their cage, they usually demonstrate their displeasure by tipping over or dragging back the food bowl or igloo house.

If he's active and not getting snippy with you when you approach the cage, but still looks alert and curious, I would think that he's excited to have a new arena to conquer. :)

Mine have never cared about the rearranging except when I moved their hidey house from the top of the cage to the bottom. They would go in there to sleep. I guess they like elevation. But the rest they don't care about. They might bumped into something the first time but they get used to it fast.
