so a few weeks ago i posted about a chin i had that i have been trying to tame down..i have come to a conclusion.......

he is very social he runs and is all nosey when im in his cage etc. but when you go to touch him he freaks out he doesnt like hands :( .... if he is eating something and you pet him over his head he will tolerate it for a second or two then run away.. overall he has improved socially just not with interacting...i have just come to the conclusion that im just going to leave onix be...i love him even if he doesnt like to be messed with :) hes my handsome man lol

you can keep trying with him. He'll come around eventually. Just never chase him around his cage or try to grab onto him. Let him come to you. 95% of the time chins calm down and learn to trust people...and then you can hold them and play with them. I'd love to try to tame him down in a pouch. :) That usually does the trick with the more difficult chinnies!

thanks ill try the pouch!! thats a good idea.!!

My extra dark ebony boy hates me. He will let my hubby pick him up sometimes, but he attacks my hands or kacks at them. I am the one who cleans his cage and sometimes it makes it very difficult to do.

I am not sure how long you have had him........but I have found that some chins just take longer to warm up, especially rescues. It took my Stitch almost 8 months to fully trust me. He now jumps into my arms from his cage. But Zucca acclimated within about 6 weeks. Now I honestly can not clean his cage without him jumping on my shoulders, back, head or arm. I just scoop him up every night and let him have a few minutes in the bathroom otherwise I spend twice as long batting him out of the way!
The boys I got from Jill a few months ago are just starting to come around but Oreo who is a Black Velvet is the slowest to trust me. So I just let him be. When he is ready he will let me know.

Where do you get a pouch? Or do you make it??
