I have to give credit for his recovery to the vet. This is the third surgery I've had done with him and all three surgeries the chinchillas were moving around really well the day they came home from surgery. He just does an amazing job and is as minimally invasive as possible and he goes fast so they're introduced to the anesthesia for as short a time as possible. He's done spays on finches...I adore the man and the amazing work he does.

Lynn, Laura's got it. I'm not working right now so I get to spend all day long with the baby! :hearts: He stays in whatever room I am in for the day and I set him up so he gets his heating pad but I can still see him.

He is doing amazingly well and taking even more formula now. I'm giving him his pain medicine now...which he likes a little too much, lol. It helps his appetite though and he likes to dig into the hay for a good thirty minutes after he gets his meds. I'll get a better video of him moving around later!

His waddles are pretty much the cutest thing I've seen a baby chin do.

I have not tried to let him roll at all yet, ****oo. I've been dusting him by hand, but that does very little for him since I hold him near constantly during the day. He's out quite a bit for feeding, cleaning and medicating so it's hard to keep that greasy look off him. He'll get a chance to roll in a couple weeks when the suture areas are healed. I'll video it for everyone, lol.

Oh I gotcha. I didnt dawn on me he was being held all the time and that was why he was greasy. (i'm slow)
Either way hes a cutie.

Tabitha, I think you are truly amazing. What you have done for Jimmy is wonderful. He looks great--probably the cutest chinchilla on the entire planet! He is only alive and where he is at today because of you--what a great job you've done!

Thank you Laurie, though a large part of his survival is due to himself, my amazing vet and his mom. He's only relying on me now for attention and a bit of milk to supplement what he eats and drinks on his own.

Today he was crying in his cage so I gave him his pain meds a little early, fed him a whole lot of milk...way past the point of full. His belly looks like a balloon, lol! He's now cuddling in my lap and boy is he talkative! He keeps wiggling around in circles then stopping to stare at me...if I so much as glance at him he starts peeping at me! This little guy is just too lovey!
