So the results came in today from the sample they took. They said it's cancer. The vet said what they would do is do a blood test and xray. If there are more tumours they would NOT do surgery. IF there is no other tumours then they would remove the tumour.

I am unsure what my plan is at this time. What I want to do is look this up and see what the prognosis is. I have no issues with doing the tests, xray and even surgery but I want to make sure that if I do, she won't suffer and she'll have a cancer free life. I just don't want her to suffer.

Just thought I would update this in case anyone else has a chin that gets this.

Basically the tumour is a carcinoma of the mammary glands. It's very common in other small mammals but most are benign. Hestia's is not though. The reaccurance rate is very high. It is the worst type of thing she could have been diagnosed with.

Because it is quite likely that the tumour will come back if it is not already spread I will not be doing the surgery for removal and will let Hestia be for the time being. I will monitor her very closely and when I feel it's time, I'll take her in to be put down. I don't know how much time she has but I don't think it will be very long. She is still on meds but they aren't going to do very much to prolong her.

She is still running on her chin spin, eating and pooping. If it wasn't for that tumour I wouldn't have thought anything was wrong with her.

Since this is so rare in chins I hope that no one else will have to go through this.

I'm so sorry for you and Hestia. Yes, spoil her rotten and love her to death. I'm sorry that this happened to you.

I am so very sorry for you both. I didn't think it was mastitis, but I didn't think it would be anything this bad either.

Now would be the time that much love and many raisins would come into play. I hope that the remaining time you have together can be pain free for Hestia and full of run time and unlimited dusting.

I was already thinking of getting some raisins and letting her have some forbidden treats. I will for sure be spoiling her even more so than usual. I'll just have to make sure the other chins don't see or I might have 5 sets of dirty looks.

I'm going to make that whatever time she has left is filled with lots of goodies and scritches.

Oh I'm so sorry, it's never easy even in knowing that she will be in a better place :( after she's gone. I hope you have some good times with her now, you'll both be in my thoughts.
