Hi all-- I've just got a quick question concerning the expression of the TOV gene.. previously, I thought it just resulted in the mask and darker fur on the back, as well as the paw stripes. But, I've just come across an ad asserting that chins expressing the gene actually have softer ("satin") fur: http://www.hoobly.com/0/0/1249962.html
Just wondering if that's true.. tried to Google search it with no luck. Thanks.

No, it isn't. It also isn't only expressed in the mask, paw stripes, and darker fur on the back. It's very hard to tell if some violets or whites are TOV until they produce kits.

I wouldn't say it is softer, but in certain lines it does cause the fur to have a different texture. Hence the original name "Touch of Velvet"

The reason that one's fur is shiny is because of the ebony influence.
