A brave decision - I will be thinking of you all tomorrow - I truly wish you all the very best & hope that your little fella pulls through.

I'll keep the little guy in my thoughts. I hope that everything goes well with his surgery and recovery.

A lot of times my opinions on things are not so popular. If this were the case with one of the chins here, I'd probably opt for the surgery, too. $1000 is a lot of money, but I'd want to try. There's a possibility that he will recover and have a great, long life. That would be good enough for me. The vet is going to get some good experience with this regardless of the outcome...and other chin owners can benefit!

I don't want you to feel bad about it one way or the other. :)

We will have all paws and fingers crossed for you. I hope your little guy pulls through.

Do animals have blood types like humans do? Like, could any chinchilla give another a blood transfusion?

Thats a good question I have no idea. Here we have a dog and cat blood bank. I remember getting a flyer a while ago about haveing your dog be a doner. I think the problem with chins and having a blood bank is there arnt that many of them and they are hard to draw blood from. Also, how much blood can you get from each chin? There are so many variables that is makes my brain hurt thinking about all the different things to consider.

Keeping all our fingers and paws crossed for him and you guys. I am hoping against all that he will come through this fit as a fiddle.

Sending best wishes and prayers your way that everything turns out good.

May God work through the surgeon's hands to save your chinnie. It would be a wonderful and miraculous end to this story. I'm anxious to hear about the outcome and I'll be keeping you and your little friend in my thoughts tomarrow

Wishing you the best of luck! You, your hubby and your little fuzz butt will be in our prayers today. Zoe, Herby, Ansem and Sabin all have their paws crossed as well!

Thank you to everyone who has given your opinions, thoughts and prayers our way. ChinDaddy and I really appreciate it!

We dropped DJ off this morning at the vet. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to stay in the waiting room, nor was I allowed to stay and assist (I'm a CVT.) So needless to say, ChinDaddy and I are nervous wrecks :cry3: We're tryign our best to keep each other in good spirits  Gizmo (DJ's cagemate) I'm sure misses DJ already, he didn't want to let him get out of the cage this morning.

We will keep you updated. Thanks again.

We are sending all the healing energy that we can muster this morning for a great outcome and for a fantastic update later today. :crossfingers:
