I was once a newbie too. I actually bought the vanilla stuff ( I think it had vanilla extract in the dust) I only bought it because they were out of everything else. this was way before I found the forum. any way I stopped using it because it was crappy quality dust. It was kinda gravely.

Ticklechin-

Once again you have missed the point in your rush to denigate someone. And yes, I have made a mistake- just now. Assuming people who I respond to have enough intelligence- oh, never mind. I am learnimng to go by Peggy's sig. Nice to see the Canadian Mafia again, too. Hi girls! (waves)

>I would not advocate using it, however, they may be open to suggestions from someone, who isn't irate or irrational calling them or emailing them and telling them the downsides to promoting that.

I have spent hours (yes, hours) on the phone with DF&S over the past 2 years. Oh, and I loved the oh so sly dig. No one will catch that, will they?

How many hours have you spent talking to the maker of the carriers, trying to convine her that leaving several mm of rivets in rows sticking up on the inside of the carrier may not be the best thing? I forgot, that's different. I may not post sly like you, but at least I am honest.

I guess my lack of intelligence lends me to not understand a word you are saying in your response to my question, you are honest that you have never made one mistake? Not many can say that and be truthful. Who is the canadian mafia BTW?

Interesting conversation.

I see dangerous products for cats and dogs all the time too. You really have to know your pet and what is suitable. Unfortunately people want cutsie-wootsie stuff and the companies want to make money. It is up to the consumer to do their research.
I have to say I made a lot of mistakes when I was a beginner. However, in my defense, I didn't have the internet yet. Information is out there now so you can't give too many excuses ;)

I wonder if the stuff really stinks if you could use it for a few times during intros, kind of the same idea of vanilla on the nose? The whole chin would stink the same as its intro buddy.

Did someone call the "Canadian Mafia"? I am here.

I'm starting to develop allergies to perfume these days which is too bad b/c my sister always brings me back bottles from the US and Mexico. I really need to stay away from most scented stuff these days and I'd think chins could develop sensitivities as well. Better just to say no to these kinds of products.

I end up with bottles of the scented dust and it usually just gets thrown away. No one wants it, they want the Blue Cloud dust.

I don't like the smell of the scented dust at all. It's unnecessary...really just a way for someone to sell dust at a higher price. I don't know if it is unsafe, but it definitely isn't necessary. From the look of the dust it wouldn't really work all that well. In the ingredients it says, "Natural Oil Absorbers." I wonder what those really happen to be. Also, it doesn't really give an ingredient for the fragrance except for it's fragrance. I suppose one of us should call the company that produces this product and find out for sure what everything in the dust truly is and see if it is toxic in any way.

LOL @ Carol Anne being a member of any mafia!

A new customer of mine asked me about the scented dust, she said she heard it was "really good." I don't know who she heard that from but I advised her to avoid it. Thank goodness she's asking questions anyway, she won't be getting her girls for another month.

Give her some blue cloud, that will do everything for you right there. I had a customer recently who only used those little packets of bath sand and told me that it was really good for them and the chins liked it. So, I gave her a little tiny bag of blue cloud and two days later she called to tell me how much the chins liked it and how much fluffier they looked after just two dust baths.

Good dust makes a big difference that can be seen immediately. The choice of dust in the scented stuff wasn't a very good one because it is just too coarse to work as well as other dusts. And, it is so much more expensive.

The last two people to visit me said they'd gotten a container on clearance, so it must not sell that well here. I gave them some of each type to try.

"Natural Oil Absorbers." I wonder what those really happen to be.
Oh, that would probably be our controversial friend the zeolite. It's in most of the pet pine beddings and has been replacing fuller's earth as an oil absorber.

Most scents are oil form, was curious as to how they got that into a 'dust' per say.
