I hate the mix of beige with violet or sapphire. Beige violet does NEITHER color justice and it doesn't help either color on the show table. The only reason to breed those two colors together is for the "novelty" factor to sell them for a lot of cash. I've seen normal beiges beat out beige violets for color, it's about breeding quality and not looking for the nearest short cut to get you one quality over others.

ANY chinchilla can be cute. They're chins and we all love them. While Ritterspach has some great quality, we know from their auctions on chinchillas.com that they are out to make $$, not breed something that is of the highest quality.

As pet people, I'm sure some less commonly seen colors are appealing, but to breeders with a deeper understanding of genetics and what produces what...that is a horrifying genetic mix.

Actually I have been told by someone who did well with their violets that the best violets they've ever gotten have come out of beige animals. I've also heard the same true for sapphires out of beige animals....(NOT beige violet crosses, or sapphire beige crosses..but violets/sapphires OUT of beige vc or sc animals)

I think it's the texture of her fur more than the color that reminds me of dryer lint, though all of my sheets and towels are tan/beige, so that might be part of it too. :D I'd love to pet her and fuss over her, but I've never seen one that muddy colored before, and since 'clarity' is a judging standard, I don't think she'd do that well on a judging table.

If I had her in my care, though, she'd probably be named "Bounce" or "Snuggle" after the dryer sheets. :p
