No, that means that flash is ok. 
)
But good light at mid-day would probably be your best bet. The more light you have, the faster your camera will focus and the crisper your photos will be. We have a canon dslr as well, but I was using my cell phone last night with Taz and got some pretty decent shots. He was just sitting there though... lol

Yes, and as always - bribes are a good way to have a chinnie hold still enough for a photo, flash or not!
