390 grams at 7 months is pretty small, IMO. Most chins are pretty much full-grown by eight months or so. What clinic did you go to? I am very familiar with most of the NoVa clinics.

They should have done an x ray on the spot to be sure and not guess. This way if he stays sick you won't have to pay for another visit , and more meds, then x rays etc. I really don't understand some vets.
Anyway were the scratches infected and deep? Antibiotics and pain meds for scratches sound a bit much unless they are deep or something.
You can use vitamin E oil on his ears.
I hope he gets better and you don't have to go back. Please keep us updated :)

Vet that we went to.

Abby, I went to Eastern Exotic Veterinary Center. It's located at 400 Legato Road Fairfax VA 22003. The doctor who saw us was Dr. Delly McDonald. Do you know her?

Yes, I do. All fo the doctors at Eastern are excellent, so if she says he is fine, then he is. He is awfully small though for his age. You might try buying some PANR from the online stores here and switch him to that. I have heard many people find their chins gain weight very well on that.

Also, remember with the antibiotics, you will need to add some acidophilus into his diet. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, including the good bacteria chins have in their gut to aid in digestion. So you need to replace that bacteria to keep him from getting an upset stomach. You can use the same acidophilus people use, just sprinkle a half capsule over his food. If he won't eat that, try giving him a chewable acidophilus tablet, they are flavored and so more palatable. It's not the preferred method but it's better than nothing.
