Hi everyone. I just thought that I would post some pictures of Stuart (aka Sugar Ray to most of you here). There have been lots of changes to Stuart's life in the past couple of weeks since turning a year old. He is doing so great that I graduated him from a decent size holding cage to one level of a Ferret Nation with some awesome wood items from Cat and Bill. We are only putting him in there for short periods of time throughout the day for now as we are using this space to also introduce him to his hopefully new roommate, Tut, a BV male that I have taken out of breeding. This is a new, neutral space for both of them and they both love it so much that there has been little to no dominance behavior. Stuart is absolutely in loooove with both the cage and with Tut. Tut loves the cage but only tolerates Stuart because he seemingly comes with the cage and is a necessary evil to achieve the good things in life! :)

Stuart constantly tries to mount Tut as he views him as his new girlfriend (a definite improvement over my hand) but Tut can easily get away due to Stuart's balance issues. Stuart attempts a mount, loses balance, rolls off and then gives you a look like that is the way it is supposed to be done and then he goes off and licks his "ahem" wounds! :)

Stuart has been able to climb on top of Bill and Cat's awesome house but not on the bed yet - they both ignore the hay box as they are too busy exploring. In the next week or so I will be experimenting with some fleece items and leaving them in there for longer periods of time. I still need to install the dining ledge that I bought from Bill and Cat but am worried that Stuart will not be able to get up on it. If I do not see him attempt the bed soon, we will go with another dining option. Enjoy the pics.

They look great. I too love that second picture. The look on Tut's face is priceless.

I have a Nikon D40. I had a 18-55 mm lens on it and the camera was on auto mode since. It is a great camera.

I am glad he's doing so well! I have a soft spot for whites and he is just gorgeous!

He is gorgeous and I love him! I would love to put him into breeding as I had intended as he has the perfect fur, color and conformation to pass on to his offspring, I just can't make myself do it though. We will see how the roommate situation works out for he and Tut. I am more worried for Tut since he has been in breeding before and I am not sure how he will do with another male "long term". We will see.

Aww they're both dolls. Glad he's thriving for you, I know last year was a nightmare with him. Cat & Bill do make some awesome wood items. My cages are full of it too.

Adorable! My male Inca was a breeder until I got him, and now him and my other male Charlie are BFFs! I hope their friendship thrives and they become life long buds!

Short version - when I got him from his breeder he went into stasis and then developed a severe ear infection as a result of the gut infection and has somewhat of a permanent head tilt and balance issues. Overall he is doing wonderfully considering he was given less than a 10% chance at survival. If you want to read the novella here is the link:

Gorgeous Chinnies! And what a stark contrast having a Black Velvet and a Pink White! :) I love the grooming pic too!

Thanks everyone! They spent their first full day and night together in the new cge last night. Everything went perfectly. Not a single tuft of fur was blown during this whole introduction. Very very lucky! Tut is putting up with Stuart's need to constantly move around the cage in circles and Stuart is learning to navigate and balance on all of the low ledges. I have two ledges a little higher up for Tut where he can get some peace and quiet but he chooses to hide in the house where Stuart will also cram his fat little body in just so he can groom Tut. It is so funny to see them together.
