Strange ear cut thing?

I've had my girls for just over a year and ever since I got them I have wondered what my little Jazz had on her ear! It's like a slit and I've never asked the previous owner but I am just clueless. It's on the left (her left) ear.

She was probably nipped by another chin or had a cut somehow.

Kishi has tattered ears, it was due to over agressive grooming by a litter mate, or so i was told by previous owner.
