Still sick

My little man is still pooping green, watery(almost slimy) poopies. He's been to the vet 3 times now and has lost 52 grams . Im on the 4th medicine attempt to make sure he doesn't have any infections internally. He will eat his mealies like crazy but shows little to no interest in any other foods like he used to. I've been giving him baby food through a syringe. I feel like Im running out of options. He's about 2 years old.

Has the vet done another stool sample? And have the cultured the bacteria from it?

I ask because a culture & sensitivity test may help determine what type of bacteria is causing the problem, and also tell you what antibiotic will kill it best. Taking away the lets try this one and hope it fixes the problem.

Yeah they tested his poop this morning(found nothing) and prescribed a dewormer even though he didn't have any evidence in his poop. He is also on baytril. About 3 weeks ago when I took him in they found some bacteria in his poop and he got some medicine for that but nothing has really changed. He doesn't roam freely so I know there's no foreign object blockages. He's been sedated for an exam and an ultrasound is just out of my reach price wise.

Baytril can upset his tummy as well. There are some medicines that calm and coat the stomach (can't remember the name but hopefully someone on here will). Try feeding A/D as well. If he isn't eating dry food, just baby food he may need more nutients. A/D is good and easy to syringe or maybe a limited ingredient cat food (natural balance wet cat food, mixed with some warm water to help it syringe better). If they eliminate all other causes of illness, it could be irritable bowel syndrome (I've had a few hedgies with it) or unfortunately an intestinal cancer or growth. Keep at it, try the A/D to get some weight on. Prednilisone (low grade steroid) may become a last resort.

Are you thinking of carafate?

Has he had any length of time off of the antibiotic? Antibiotics can wreck havoc on the GI. I've had some that couldn't take certain types without getting liquid green stools.

Another question, has you vet had you give him probiotics? Probiotics given midway between antibiotic doses can help replenish the good bacteria the antibiotics are killing off in the GI.
