Standard behavior on day 1

I just got a chin today, and he's been in the same spot in his cage since I put him in there. He has his food, water, and hay, but he barks at me when I'm on the other side of the room, and jumps away when I walk in! Is this standard behavior, or is something wrong? My first chin didn't act like this at all.

Different chins have different personalities, this is normal for a skittish and timid chin. )

sounds normal to me! Seems like he's just getting used to his new home, it can be a little scary! He also may be a bit more of a skittish chin, just give him his space for a bit. I'm sure he'll be fine

Thank you all so much! I was scared! My first chin was hopping around his cage in an hour or less, and I thought I was going to regret buying this one! But I wonder how long it'll take him to get used to everything?

It could take him a few days, it could take him a few weeks, it could take him a few months. Honestly, no one can tell you how long it's going to take because it's up to your chin.

Yeah, I have had some really, really skittish chins come into the rescue and then some who were friendly and loving from the start. Just give him time.
