It's a big branch where she can sit on, nibble or use it as a stairs to a platform.

I don't know what kind of wood it is though but it's chinfriendly and it's used in aquariums aswell + it's really hard, almost like stone :)

I think its Grape Vine? They have the wood in every petshop here also (I'm in Spain) and I was going to buy it but just didn't know if it was safe enough or not...I'm not even sure if it IS grapevine but this picture looks pretty similair:

Also, Steve....Just be careful that the piece of wood is stable...Chinchillas are quite skittish and you wouldn't want him falling and then that falling on top of him...They are quite heavy.

Don't worry ;) I thought of everything! It's secured with a bolt trough the plate.

I buy whole wheat pasta for us, and the dogs and chins love it. Everyone munches away any time I cook pasta.

Oh God...Pasta for dogs too? Great! What about penne pasta though, Ann? Just too small and chance of choking? For chins it wouldn't be too small but would they have difficulty eating it even so?

I must have a look and see if we have any Spaghetti....

I think the more whole wheat (with a minimal ingredients list) would be best. Spaghetti is probably just easier to divvy up for a treat, so you can just break it in half for the perfect sized treat, imo.

My dogs love dried pasta. Any time they hear the bag, they all come running.

The dogs and chins eat rotini and penne with no problems. Just a lot of crunching. The chins get spaghetti, but I rarely give that to the dogs. I'm afraid they'll get stabbed in the mouth.

Stevie! We had spaghetti tonight for dinner as well!

My chins love whole wheat rotini! I give them Hodgkin's Mills and it has quadtini LOL! Wesley does not like the beet though, he's very picky!

I love listening to them all chew away on those things!

Actually your wood thing there looks like the African Mopane wood that a lot of people use for their reptiles because it's just like you said, sturdy, stable, and harder than my head. ;) Tbh, though, this is the first I've heard of it being chin safe, but if it is, it's usually not expensive to buy at reptile shows, etc.

I agree.. looks like Mopani driftwood... and I am not sure if it's safe for the Chin'kids either. It looks great in my planted freshwater aquarium, though ;)

I do use grapevine perches in my Chin'kid enclosure. They were made for birds, but they work great for jumping around in the mansion. I have not seen Palay or Obsidian chewing on them, though... and they both chew the pine ledges and perches a LOT!

I'm glad to know the girls can have some pasta! Now, they won't look so pitiful when all the bRats are chomping away on theirs

I use grapevine also in my cage. They love it, though, it is very loud when they spring off of it at night, and I have to keep it lower in the cage because my boys are a bit clumsy. They are very expensive, that's the downside. I think one was $6 in Petco. It's ridiculous. I'll have to try the pasta. I have whole wheat pasta twists in the pantry right now. Best not give it to them before bed though. I'll be up all night :)
