My first litter was quads and when they were about 4 days old the smallest one got attacked by one or more of the others. They chewed up the entire right side of his face. We thought that he has lost his eye. He looked so bad that my husband kept calling him a monster. Everything healed up just fine and when the scab fell off, his eye was still there. eventually, all the fur grew back and when I sold him, he looked perfectly normal.

I'm sorry to hear about the little girl, Therese. Hoping she's doing well and pulling through for you.

Update

Well, it seems we had a little miracle in our hands. After the fight, her "bad" eye was swollen so shut, that when I was able to pry it open, I didn't see a normal looking eyeball and had assumed it was punctured and done for. After getting her fully cleaned up, healing up a bit, and a few days of working it open and flushing the eye out, we have an intact eyeball! I'm not sure if there is any damage, if at all, but at least there's hope for that eye maybe! Her eyes were the worst of her injuries, but are already almost back to normal looking. The rest of her wounds on her face and tail have scabbed up nicely and her face is no longer swollen. The first couple of days after the incident was difficult, as mom did not want to take care of her or feed her when I rotated, so I have just handfed her. Her weight dropped a bit at first, but now she is starting to gain again. All in all, I think she is doing great. She is definitely mama's lil girl, and is pretty much by me throughout the day, in my lap, next to me, or near me, and cries and whines when I have to put her in the carrier just for a bit. Oh man, she is already one spoiled brat! But she deserves all the love and attention she can get for everything she's been through. :hearts: Oh, and we've named her Rhea.

Well that's just great news...hopefully she'll pull through with at least some vision. While chins can lead a relatively normal life without vision, I'm sure they do prefer to see a bit :)

Kit fights ARE the worst...and like mentioned, they are fighting for their lives. I've had kits kill siblings...one day everything is fine, the next I find a dead kit and the injuries to the deceased and another sibling indicate it was definitely a kit squabble that did it. It's just aweful to deal with. Best of luck and keep up the good work.

I am really sorry to hear about this...it just breaks my heart...here is a handful of good wishes going your way :cry3:

Good luck and well wishes for Rhea! (beautiful name...I love that...)

I am so glad to hear that Rhea is doing better...and her name is perfect!!! I think you should give her a middle name....Rhea Sunshine...because that is what shis a little Ray of Sunshine!!!!!

Picture Update!

Little Rhea is doing great! I think she may be able to see through both eyes, even the "bad" one. Her face is almost furless as her scabs have all fallen off. She looks a bit scruffy at the moment, but she is so full of energy and acts like nothing even happened. But, she looks so good now, in comparison to the day the fight occurred, and during the first days of healing.

Her scruffy lookin self.

Such a beautiful girl! She looks really healthy and full of life. I'm sure she is your little snuggle girl. So glad to see she is doing better. I'm betting she has a super sweet personality given all the extra attention you have given her. Love the pictures!
