My other boy is a little over a year old. I do have another cage to keep him separate in and 4 weeks is a minimum of how long I would allow him to adjust. The lady said he is 12 weeks old. Can someone tell me about the benefits of going with a breeder or going with someone who is not?

He needs a home, you have a home. That's a pretty good benefit. :)

The only benefit you are going to get coming from a breeder as opposed to someone rehoming a chin (hopefully) is a chin free from genetic defects to the best of the breeders ability. Other than that, breeders don't have any magic formula for success with pairings, etc. that you won't get by buying from an individual who needs to rehome their chin.
