My girls love to watch scary movies with their friends. Does anyone have any scary movies that are just scary and not filled with sex scenes and stuff like that? Apparently anymore the two go together?

Recommendations welcome!

The Paranormal Activity movies are just creepy, not sex or anything in them, but they have to actually follow them... Other than that? Look into some older horror movies, that'd be my suggestion...

Hhhmmm...I'm trying to think back to what movies have scared me. IT did, oh god it did
Oh yes...they float, Georgie. They float.
aaahhhhhh!!! *curls up in fetal position*

How old are they? The Ring was pretty decent... Silent Hill, though that's not very scary... Darkness Falls... Those are just a few others that popped into my head...

Are you looking for scary-suspense or scary-gore?

The Village was a pretty creepy movie... as was The Ruins. I had to shut off the Ruins part way through **SHUDDERS**

The one who's really into them is 10. I know that seems young, but they like mostly suspense with a little gore. They watched poltergeist... it was awesome because I scared them silly and I didn't really mean to, lol. My biggest thing is finding ones that are full of sex. We watched the Omen as well, it's older and a little more blah, but they liked it well enough.

Which just reminded me of a haunting in conneticut, that was a pretty good one.

House on Haunted Hill and The Haunting. Can't remember if there are any sex scenes but I don't recall any particular ones.

Iirc, most of the Stephen King stories made into movies aren't highly sexed. They left the sex-oriented story line out of "IT" for example, but if you read the book you realize the kids did some pretty adult 'experimenting' the first time It showed up. "Rose Red" alludes to masturbation once that I remember, but other than a little rough language, I don't recall anybody getting naked, etc.

My first horror movie was "Silence of the Lambs", but I'm not sure how you feel about the cross-dressing in dead womens' skins part of it. I don't recall any nude scenes though.

I liked "The Others," though I don't think that's gory, just scary.

Silent Hill was totally scary. *hides under desk in fetal position* It was a bit of an f-ed up movie though, I'm not quite sure I'd follow it at age 10.

When I had a slumber party at about that age, I remember my parents letting us watch the old Hitchcock movies The Birds and Psycho. We loved it!

When I was about 13, I watched Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. I had to sleep with the light on for about 3 nights afterward. Hitchcock's Psycho is also a classic, of course. Neither have any sex in them.

The Watcher in the Woods and Something Wicked This Way Comes are older movies but both scared me pretty bad when I was younger. Especially The Watcher in the Woods.

I am thinking The Terminator, I loved that movie. And I was just telling my son and his friend about Christene, we rented it and we all loved it.

I actually remember some movies with Vincent Price that were creepy and would be more kid oriented. There's the Wax Museum, Fall of the house of Usher and the Pit and the Pendulum. I remember being freaked out by the Wax Museum.

I also liked the House on Haunted Hill and the Others.

What about When a stranger calls if they like suspense. [Wasn't too scary, but my heart was racing the entire time]

There are also some shows, again, if they want scary suspense-like.. like ghost hunters or something in that range.

Bad things with clean movies is that they sometimes like to make 'references' to material that might not actually be in the movie..

You can go to www.imdb.com to see parental guides on movies. They tell you the scenes that make it rated the way it is -- which helps a lot so you're not fast-forwarding parts, or screaming ''WOAH ah- *clears throat*'' every-time a curs-word comes up.

i love scary movies! i have 3 little boys who also like scary movies but the oldest is 10.
what i usually do is search IMDB.com

it is an internet movie data base. you can search by genre. but the way i use it is i read the parental guides. so many of the PG 13 movies today are extremely inappropriate but others like the action ones may only have mild language. The parental guide on that site tells you exactly what takes place. how many times a curse word is used, if there is only a passionate kiss or something more. it is SO helpful! i put the app on my ipod touch and now whenever one of the boys want to rent a movie, they know i have to check it out first.

ETA: didnt read right above!! sorry.
