While melamine is cost effective for building a cage, I would think that the amount you would require to do what your trying to do you may be better off using that money towards a playpen. They are not that expensive. You can even buy two and have joint separate playtime or combine them for a larger playspace. Do a search on here for playpens and you will get sone ideas.

I paid 11.00 per 4ft by 8ft sheet, its located in the wood paneling department of a store like Lowes. Brown on one side, shiney white on the other.

3 month old babies should not be let out for playtime. Hold off on letting them out until they are at least six months old.

what about poly-styrene panels? I saw some of those in at lowes today. Unfortionitly i couldnt find the same thign on their site, as to give an example. Basicly it was a large plastice sheet. It didnt seem like a chin would be able to sink its teeth into one. Their used on drop ceilings.

Are you talking about the 1/16in think stuff, not the really thin flimsy stuff? If its the thick stuff and you can cover the mating edges that would be fine IMO.

im not sure how thick it was, ill have to check that next time i was their. (Edit: it seemed pretty thick for that product tho) I honestly hadnt giving the product a thought, but it was suggested to me as a decent option if it was chin safe from someone i no, while i was in the store.

I was actuly their to look for that melamine product. Unfortionitly i had other stuff to do that day so was in a rush leaving, and i forgot to write the products name down, so i wasnt able to find it.

What do u mean about the 'mating edge'? Obvoiusly the regular edges would have to be covered somehow. But im not sure what 'mating' edge is. The boards their that i saw were a little bit rough on one side, but smooth as **** on the other. So obviously that would be the side exposed to the chins
