There's probably a thread already around here about this but I can't find anything. It's probably right in front of my face too.

So during the summer I grow veggies for my rabbits and I also have an herb garden with a variety of herbs for the buns.

I know people say no fruits or veggies. My question is, is there any flowers or herbs that chins can have? Maybe a website with a list of safe ones? I looked but I want to make sure it's a good source. Of course it would be just a occasional treat.

Thanks so much! :)

there are tons of threads on herbs.....definitely do a search.

i like hibiscus flowers and rose petals and chamomile and bee pollen.

as for herbs i like peppermint, red clover leaf, red rasberry leaf, dandelion

but all in moderation. i make my own herbal mix that has flowers & herbs & hay & oats, etc and all mixed togehter my boys dont get more than a teaspoon. and that is a measuring teaspoon not an eating spoon.

I saved this link from QMC back when they sold herbal mixes. There were a couple posts last week I think about how people had noticed calmer chins when being fed chamomile.
I know I've seen some debate on how good these are for chins as there hasn't really been a chance to see long term effects. Personally, my family has used herbal remedies for ages and I believe that dried herbs are probably okay. But that's coming from someone who doesn't give their chins any herbs...

Thanks so much! All very helpful! :)

They can have hibiscus flowers? I never would have guessed! That's my favorite flower!

dried hibiscus. i usually break the leaves into much smaller pieces. i actually often crush in my hands so they just get little slivers in my herbal mix. once in a very great while i will give the ones that i know like it a larger piece. maybe the size of a dime.
my boys love little rose bud petals, i get the pink ones. even my guy with tooth issues eats a leaf. they are real small, usually about the size of a pencil eraser.

Thanks! That's what I meant- dried.
I did a search and I found some good threads but there was a link in a couple of them that were broken and from the replies about it it seemed good. Wish it was still there!

Does anyone know if they can have rosemary, sage, or thyme? (dried of course)

i have seen some herbal blends online that include a couple of those herbs but i personally do not use them. i would think the rosemary is a bit strong.

i tried oregano one time and they seem to have left that behind for the most part, it has a distinct odor and many of my guys did not seem to like it, so it went upstairs in my personal kitchen stash!

maybe you can PM Tanya and see if she knows about these herbs and if they would have any benefit to your chins health.
