Rescue had 2 kits

So one of the chinchillas from the hoarding situation just had 2 kits. Both are beige (mom is a standard). Cute as heck.

Baby A is 44 grams
Baby B is 46 grams

No clue on sex as I just wanted to get them weighed and leave them be. Mom is doing great. Hopefully the other female is not pregnant. I don't know how you breeders do this. So much stress with those little balls of fur.

They are making cute little noises which is how I found them when I got home from work. No babies when I left this morning.

Yes, I've had other females on pregnancy watch but this is the first one to ever have kits. I was shocked when I heard little noises from the cage!

Mom is doing great.....and so am I. I hope these are the only kits born here. I really find them cute but stressful! ha!

Such precious little nuggets of fur!! Anyone want to take bets these kits never leave home? Congrats. Its always fun to snuggle little ones and have them squeak back to you.

The female is gaining about 3 grams a day now. The boy is a bit slower so hopefully todays weigh in will be up more or I'll have to switch out the female for a bit today.

As much as I love having them, I hope the other chin from the hoarder doesn't have kits. Too much stress! Kits are crazy! I can't believe how they climb already.

No, mom will be staying with me after weaning to get a bit more socialized. Since she came from the hoarder and was living in really crowded conditions she needs some time yet.

The other female that came with her is really skittish and will be with me for a while.
