I just want to bang my head on the wall:hair: BUT...

One of my females whom I suspect is quite pregnant but I dont know a date since she's been in with the male since July of last year, has one watery eye. Shes eating ok and isnt pawing at it but it looks like shes tearing up. Its not red or swollen - I have been using the same type of dust for years and the same bedding since Sept (Aspen bout all I can find here in bulk). I can't really do anything to treat her without harming the babies Im afraid...Advice??

Are you feeding loose hay? If so she may have just poked herself in the eye and it will get better on its own. If you think it might be an infection there is a home treatment if she is comfortable with you holding her. (You don't want to stress her when she is far along.)
Get some lipton tea bags and fix a cup just as you would it you were to drink it (no cream or sugar). Cool the tea to luke warm. dip a cotton ball in the tea and hold it to the eye for 5 mins if possible. I have cured many minor eye irritations this way.

Watch for worsening, change in eating, coughing, pooping...as these might suggest a trip to the vet is needed.

You can use antibiotic eye drops and most antibiotics even if a chin is pregnant. To me a mom's life is more important ( I understand this is probably not a life threatening issue at this time ) because I'd rather have a live mother and dead babies than a dead mother and dead babies.

Otherwise, watering with no swelling or redness can also be a sign of malo. If that's not ruled out then it's something to look into.

Well she solved my problem early this morning - she had her kits - two healthy babies

It appears to not be watering today. I am going to keep an eye on it as I do feed loose hay and just cleaned cages and dusted, so could be environmental. I am hoping it's not as serious as malo...she hasn't had any tooth problems to my knowledge. As the saying goes, I'm trying to think horses and not zebras when I hear hoofbeats.

thank you for the tea advice Jamie!
