So today as i was cleaning sophie's cage i noticed the poop scattered everywhere which reassured me she was a healthy chin. I spent about an hour removing every single poop. After checking on her again in about a half hour i noticed there was at the most 5 poops. she has been eating and drinking normally but i feel like shes not pooping like usual. I waited to see if she would go back to normal in the morning and surely there was poop everywhere. Should i be concerned if she's only pooping at night? Also she stretched a lot and randomly rolled in her cage. please help.

Check the outside, under, just everywhere around the cage. My boys gave me a scare a couple weeks back, but all it was is the punk was throwing the poo out of the cage. Stretching can be a sign of bloat though.

haha that sounds so funny but i did look around the cage and there were only a couple that i probably missed from the last cleaning. I dont know if my chin feels like nighttime is poo time cause when im in bed all i hear is her running on her silver surfer and the sound of poo spinning with her.

i wouldn't be concerned. she may have taken a nap in that half hour, and as far as i have seen with my boys, poop doesn't happen when they are sleeping.

My chinchilla wakes up and stretches does this mean anything i tough it was pretty normal... : (

Chins poop the most when they're active, so if it's daytime and they're sleepy/sleeping, they won't be pooping as much. So I'm sure Sophie is fine!

Okay well I'm glad to hear she's not sick. I will continue to keep an eye on her nonetheless. Also how long do chinchillas sleep on an average day?

Mine stretch when they wake up. It's when you see them stretching out of the blues is when i kick in worry mode. Not sure what the average hours of sleep for them though.
