first let me say that i hope she is okay and makes a full recovery.

just out of curiosity, it is normal for a female that recently gave birth to pass as you say hunks of green fecal matter???

i only have males and i have never seen that and i just like to educate myself on different illnesses and situations of both male & females.

No I have not seen this before - I think she did that because the vet said during her abdominal exam that she felt gassy but not blocked because he could break up the fecal matter when he pushed on it...Im guessing that she might have been stressed from the visit, reacting to the antibiotics, and stimulated by the palpation. She was pooping normally prior to the vet visit and starting the antibiotics and calcium drops.

If anyone else has thoughts...

Glad to see that everything turned out okay regarding your possible pyrometra issue and that the Bene-Bac Powder had played a role in your chin's improvement.

Cheers!

Just to update she is doing well and eating good - alert and poos are going back to normal since the antibiotics have stopped. Still taking the calcium drops but she seems to be doing well.

Question: I have been handfeeding the babies to avoid passing antibiotics through her milk...when and can I return them to her? Its been about 12 days since they have been in with her - would her milk have dried up in that time period? They were born on 12/17 so I am thinking about just continuing to hand feed until 6 weeks and not putting them back...They are about 143/142gs each now, so doing well on the milk and starting to eat hay and pellets...

I highly doubt she would have any milk left, not after 12 days. You can put them back in with her for comfort and attention, but I'm sure the milk is long gone.
