Poor Eyesight in Pink-Whites?

Hey all,

So, the other day I was letting Suki run around in the hallway of my dorm (it's pet-friendly). When it was time to catch her, she ran smack-dab into a doorjamb, turned around, ran into the jamb on the other side, turned around and did it again!

And a couple of weeks ago, when I removed the top two shelves from her cage (to reduce her activity and encourage weight gain), she repeatedly would charge up the side of the cage and turn to launch onto the second shelf. She had done this before on a pretty regular basis, and it looked like it expended a ton of energy...part of the reason I felt it would be good to remove the shelves. She smacked her face a couple of times on the first shelf by doing this, until I hung a low hammock in her way.

So my question is this: Do pink-white chinchillas tend to have poorer vision? Could it just be that she's special as far as chinchillas go? She has some kind of weird pale blue splotches in her iris... They don't look like cataracts, but is it possible that they are otherwise impeding her vision?

Any help would be wonderful!!!

Pink whites aren't known for having any more vision issues than any other chin.

I have a girl here who developed the blue/milky spots in her eyes, as far as I can tell she is completely blind now as they grew larger over time. Her parents don't have them, and none of her offspring have developed them. She's one of my favorite chins and comes when you call her. She was a special gift from one of my breeder friends!

My pink white appears to have just as good of vision as my other chins.

I have nio issues with my pink whites either. I've never heard of any problems with their vision. My chins have in the past got so used to their cage set up that they have jumped like they were going to their old ledges and became suprised that the ledges were gone. Maybe she's just doing out of routine.
