Breeders tag and tattoo for identification purposes, so that is understandable, and with the invent of microchipping many now do that instead.

I've had experience with Standardbred freeze-branding, Thoroughbred lip tattoos, cavy and chin ear tags, and rabbit tattoos, and none of it is on the same level as this. What is in those photos is selfish and needless.

I'm also against piercing infant's and baby's ears - but that is what I'd call a "gray area" - not this.
