Not yet Owner doing Research

Hello -

I'm new to the forum and not yet a Chin owner as I'm doing the research first. I'm looking to building our chin his cage and would like some input. I saw on here that a couple built their chins a cage from some sort of bookcase or tv entertainment center. I was unable to locate the types of woods that are not suitable for chins. Would solid wood be ok?

Some owners have used melamine covered wood or kiln dried pine (KD pine) from Home Depot or Lowes.

Google is your friend. Look up "chinchilla safe wood". There are lots of sites that will give you the list of good and bad wood. You could also search these forums using the search function. "Solid wood" isn't specific enough. You would need to know exactly the type of wood. Some are fine, others are not.

i built my cage i dont know what kind of wood i got but just make sure that the wood is untreated
