Ooooh he is definitely a cutie. I am so glad he has someone as generous as you to look after him. I just wanted to add that I used to have that same cage, I think, and my chinchilla used to be able to wriggle out when the grate wasn't in. I think she would get on the bottom and scoot it open lol, because it was always partly open and the doors were shut when i would find her out roaming my livinig room in the morning.

I love it when they try to take a treat with the cage bar in their mouth, too - they don't know what to do!! Let go, and it falls, and they seem to know it - I've had them just sit for maybe 15 seconds, deciding what to do!
