So this last week the Flying Saucer and Chin Spin (Thank you so much Sumiko.) I ordered arrived and I finally got them up and running two days ago. Nyxie got the Chin Spin and she was in it before I even had it attached. Once I let go she sat out side it and just made it spin by pushing it with her hand. After figuring out how it worked she hopped in and got to work. :dance3:

Petra on the other hand was less enthused about her flying saucer and would not go near it. This morning I was contemplating switching to see if Nyx would take to the Flying saucers as well and maybe Petra would like the Wheel better. As I'm standing there Petra hops on and gives in a three step walk and hops off andd gives it a wicked stink eye meaning, "how dare you move when I jump on you". I gasp and tell her how wonderfull it is that she did even that much and give her scritches. :cheer: Then said firmly and excitedly, "Do it again show mer." and she hops up and goes for about 5 seconds. I gasp and cheer and repeat what I said and she hops back up on command and goes. This continues until she's on for about a minute.

About half way through Nyxie, not to be out done, hops on her wheel and runs, then scurries to the front of the cage for the same cheers and scritching. I think I spent nearly an hour cheering my chinchillas on as Petra figured out her saucer and Nyx showed off.

I'm such a nerd, I called my mom to tell her about it... I thought I'd share cause I'm just so proud... or maybe loopy after a 12 hr night shift... or both!

Maybe both. :) You should cheer her on. I put a saucer in a cage with my chins years ago, and they just looked at. Had no interest whatsoever. They would run on a regular wheel, but just thought that saucer was too weird. I'd consider it an great accomplishment that she used it!

AWWWW!! Thats kewl though!! Ain't nothing wrong with cheering them on! I'd be proud too!!

Know exactly how you feel - but hard to share with someone not really "into" chins!
It's like they almost gotta "be there"!!

Know exactly how you feel. I remember doing the cheer dance when I got them a chinspin. It was as if my human baby mastered a milestone, lol!

Congrats! I'm so glad your chin is using their flying saucer. Nothing like spending the money to have them not use it! And Your not a nerd... lol... your just a fantastic chin mom! when me and Ty were trying to introduce our boys it was lots and lots of cheering and encouragement when they were actually playing nice.... Don't worry, we understand you!

Lol, thanks all I feel like slightly less of a dork now. I'd heard that alot of peoples chinchillas have them for months before figuring them out. I'm just so relieved she figured it out so quickly. They set each other off now. Nyxie will hop in her wheel and the sound makes Petra hop on hers. Petra may not be able to stand Nyx by there is no way in hell she will be out shined by her either. lol.

i had gotten a flying saucer for jack because when we got him he was so energetic. that thing sat in his cage for four months without being touched. last weekend we were doing some cage rearranging and decided to see if holly wanted to give the saucer a try. two seconds later holly was haulin on her new saucer! it blew my mind cause i had never seen one used in real life before....i guess it might have to be a chin spin for jackjack...
