It's really hard to bake really large pieces of wood, that's for sure. Maybe if you pull in pieces that have been frozen out in the winter it would mean that any bacteria present in the wood would be dead? I know that freezing things kills some bacteria. Out where I am we don't get very many deep freezes.

There are some people that I have heard of drying wood in the sun and then scrubbing it without baking. They don't have any problems, or so I have heard.

I would think in Arizona simply laying out the branches in the sun would be enough to kill anything I don't know how you do it. I would never survive in that oppressive heat. Glad there are people like you who can.
