So, my snoopy has been very itchy lately. I gave him a oatmeal bath, still itchy. I brushed him on a black surface and I saw little mice crawling around. I'm going to call the vet ASAP tomorrow morning, but is there anything I can do until our appointment is made? I'm going to clean his cage out, but should I give him another oatmeal bath? I don't want to over-do it, but I just want him to be OK until we have to visit the vet. =/

If he has had a bath tonight, you have likely knocked some of the mites off already. I wouldn't want to stress him too much more tonight, so if he were mine, I'd let him be for the evening, and get him in to see a veterinarian tomorrow. Ask for Revolution and then start cleaning his cage thoroughly.

Ah ok, I misread. I'd give a quick bath to help him feel better tonight, it won't wash them all away though. Those little guys are insistent on staying on our quilled kids.

Just be insistent tomorrow that he needs Revolution. I've never had one argue with me, but I've heard stories of some doing that and trying to give ivermectin instead still.

one more question, sorry! is it possible my hedgehog/dog can exchange the mites? because after going through all of this i realize my dog has been weirdly itchy as well.... :( oh no

Some say mites are species specific, others say they can be transferred. I'd suggest talking to your vet tomorrow about it. Perhaps get some revolution for the dog as well as a precaution.
