I have been on here for a few months, I know. This isn't an introduction for me, it's for my newly adopted chin, Chico! I have been trying to convince my parents to let me get a chinchilla for nearly 2 years! They finally gave in and I put a deposit down on a baby from a breeder called "Lone Star Chinchilla". After nearly a month, still, there were no babies! I was worried that it would still be a few months. I had decided to go ahead and just get one from the pet store. I walked into the kitchen where my mom was cleaning up my baby brother, i was gonna ask if I could just call and see if the pet store had one. Mama said I could call and right at that moment, the chinchilla breeder messages and says"Hey! We had a baby boy born 3 weeks ago! Do you want him?" Honesty, I had hoped for a girl, but after seeing pictures of him, i just couldnt say no! I was already in love with him! I was so relieved! And I only had to wait 5 more weeks! I got a critter nation cage, (model 161) 25 lbs of mazuri chinchilla pellets, 6 lbs of hay, (3 lbs of Timothy & 3 lbs of Alfalfa) a glass water bottle + filtered water, 2 1/2 lbs of chinchilla dust, a 30 CT chew toy sampler bundle, etc. Finally, I got him when he was 8 weeks old! I brought him home and he understandably was pretty skittish the first couple of days. I fed him pellets and hay from my hand, talked to him alot, gave him chin scratches and he warmed up fast! Tuesday night, he jumped into my arms willingly and I was able to set up a play area in my closet for playtime. He loved it! My breeder said it was ok to give him one cheerio (suger free) every few days or a few oats during playtime, to help with bonding. He thought he was in heaven! Out of all his toys, so far he seems to like the seagrass ropes, palm shredders and willow vine shapes the best! He also likes the palm flower. He is very fast and super smart! He only pees where he knows he won't be walking/running/hopping. One time, on Tuesday I believe, he peed inside his hideout and wouldn't go back in to save his life! He just sat on top of it instead. I found the urine spot, cleaned it up and as soon as I moved the hideout back in place, he immediately raced back in! He also recognizes me as opposed to Kayleigh (my 10 year old sister) or someone else! He greets me when I enter the room but hides when anyone else does! Even at his young age, he already jumps nearly 2 feet high! He is (hands down) the absolute coolest/sweetest/softest/poopingest pet I've ever owned and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world!
