Hey, I just found this thread today! AWESOME Becky!!! and thanks for the constant updates. I'm sorry I slept through them yesterday, heeheehee. I bet Kat & Bill were doing a happy dance, too!!!

18 total claims.

I saw stats in the first post.

The basics- 116 animals, 18 exhibitors. Jim Ritterspach and Dave Woods are judging.

So 18 of the 116 chins were claimed. So 98 went home with the people who brought them. Is it generally the breeder showing their own chins? And on average, each exhibitor brought 6 chins although I'm guessing some brought 1 and others brought more than 6.

Is there a minimum and maximum age the chins must be to be shown? Are there any classes specifically for evaluating kits?

And how does it work when there are two judges? Do the judges have to agree on a score, do you average their scores, or does a chin get two separate scores?

Linda

Congrats to all the winners. Special thanks to the Ohio chapter for making it possible to be among friends and have a super day of it.

Yes, the others went home with the owner, for the most part. Most chins that are shown are bred by the owner, but you can show a chin bred by someone else, as long as you give credit to them. You are right, different people showed different numbers of chins. I showed 4, some showed one or two, some showed 10 or 15.

MCBA does have a young class, but chins should be at least 4 months old, and older than that is preferred. It is hard for the judge to judge the animal when it is small and still has baby fur. Most chins shown are between 6-15 months.

Judges don't use a point system. They have to agree on what ribbon a chin will get. It is a multiple ribbon show, so a chin gets whatever ribbon it deserves. The judges also give remarks on the animals to the audience. In MCBA, the two best of each class usually get a 1a and 1b (if they are first place animals), meaning they move forward for further competition.

Sorry this has taken me so long. Caught the H1N1 flu while I was there. Sick for 3 weeks. Then another health problem. Grrrr......another chronic sinus infection. I'm determined to be healthy one day.
