Alright, so Kingston has some "outies" in his downstairs area if you know what I mean. Is it also normal for the sheath to be an "outie" as well? At least I think its the sheath, its a little pointy pink piece between his legs but it is permanently out. I just want to make sure this isn't because he can't retract.

That point pink piece is actually his penis when it is retracted, when it is unretracted for him to do his "self-checks" you will know. It is perfectly normal.

Oh good! Alright, I didn't know if you were supposed to be able to see anything or not. This makes me happy ^_^

Just for you to get a better idea-
This is when it is retracted, which is what I think you are seeing.

You should be doing hair ring checks, which if you did, I would guess you would know the difference between the penis sticking out or not. With my boys I do a check every 3 to 4 weeks and did it biweekly when they were together. If you have yet to do checks, there is a video on a web page that will instruct you how to do it without harm

Lol she only got him about a week ago, so it's understandable if she hasn't done a check yet. But yeah, you should at least know the proper sex appearance of your chin.

well I saw a hair ring check video but its quality was bad (you wouldn't happen to have a link to the one your speaking of would you?), but I was scared that was actually his penis and he couldn't get it to go back in because he had a hair ring, I've never seen a chinchilla's penis so I didn't know. But you guys have all been helpful and I appreciate it! Now I know what its supposed to look like :p

There's a vid at the bottom of that page...maybe that will be better. :D

I also want to add that girls also have a cone part that sticks out. You should attempt a hair ring check to make sure a penis comes out and you actually have a boy.

He has some pretty large, well, I don't know how to say it besides what I put earlier, he has some "outies", 2 of them, very visible lol I don't know if females have that as well? I would describe it as looking like a baboon butt :D

Well...that's ONE way of putting it! Haley dear...if he has 2 "outies" that are located behind the cone, near the anus, then I'd say you're pretty safe to say you've got yourself a male for sure.... females do not have anything that is an "outie" other than the cone itself.

Don't be afraid to do hair ring checks--just keep a little tube of KY jelly nearby; that way, if it won't retract on its own, you can put a little dab on and help. It's chin safe.
