Making some hay boxes for a rescue. Looking for suggestions on colors/pictures?

I've decided to practice making hay boxes by making some for a local rescue. I'm just not sure what to put on them!

I have done a chinchilla before:

And also flowers for my girls:

I'm looking for gender neutral ideas. I normally print stencils from the Internet to use. Since I really can't draw

I use food coloring to paint.

I was wondering if I should use the rescue's mascot on the boxes?

The rescue's mascot would be cute! Otherwise just something simple like stripes might work. Local sports teams colors, or just some non girly ones =)
