UPDATE:
I called the breeder I got the chins from last night to tell him what was happening and he came and got them all and said he would take them all to the vet for check ups and to get the momma one looked at right away since he sold me a "sick" chinchilla and he refunded my money until he can figure out whats going on with the momma and make sure the other two dont have anything. He took them to the e vet last night but I haven't heard anything back from him yet as of today.
So I guess Im chinchilla-less right now :(

Yikes!!! You actually trust him to take her?? If you haven't heard from him I would be afraid he didn't do as he said (take her to the e-vet). That poor little girl :(

I did because he drove all the way to come get them which was over a hour drive one way at 1 in the morning.
I thought I was doing the right thing..

I really really doubt that he took her to the vet..Quite frankly, when you purchased the chin, you took over responsibility for her. Including vet work. I hope that he does take her to the vet and then finds her a good home.

Um are you saying Im not a good home? I hope your not.
I was going to take her to the vet like everyone said, I called the breeder to let him know what was going on and he told me that since he sold me her not knowing that she had that "issue" that he would take her for me since I hadnt even had her a day. He was being nice and trying to take care of the chins and quite frankly I think he did do the right thing since he had just sold her to me. He took the others as well to make sure they were ok. he offered to bring back vet paper work to prove the vet visit so I highly doubt he would just not take them after driving 2 hours at 1am to come get them.
I think I did the right thing, if you dont, thats your problem.

I really hope he took them to get the vet and is being truthful about the entire situation.... I just don't have quite that much faith in people.... but best of luck.

I'm not saying that, no, I don't know you. The poor chinchilla should have had vet work as soon as the first person mentioned the possibility of pyometra. I hope, for the chinchillas sake, that he did get vet work. Just my opinion, but if you're going to come to a forum and ask for advice, don't tell me it's "my problem" when you disagree with me, because I would never let chins go back to him and I don't know many people who would ;)

Also just curious, I thought he needed a home for three, where'd the "neutered" male come into play???

He had 3 females needing homes, I only took 2 of them and a neutered male. hat has nothing to do with this situation though.
I came here for advise, yes, and I am taking it and doing with it as i please. I am doing what I decide to do and what I think I should. You have your pinions and I have mine.
Hopefully things are ok with them. Ill try and figure that out tomorrow.

UPDATE: I dont want to fight either. I was just handling things the way I thought they should be handled.
I called the guy this morning. He said they did infact all go to the vet. The mom has some sorta infection "down there" that I forget that he called it, had a weird name. The other female also has the same infection in her female parts too. I find that weird. He has them on antibiotics right now that the vet gave. He is wanting to keep all of them to keep an eye on them and to see why they got that infection. He said the vet said they should be ok with the meds but he wants to keep them and make sure they are ok and he doesnt want to give them back or let me get other ones because he doesnt know if the others have this or why they are getting it. I was thinking maybe something went bad with the bedding and its causing and infections up inside them???
He said he would send me a copy of the vet paper work for proof also which is good. I will update more then after I see it to confirm everything. This sucks that I cant get them back but I guess its better off for their health. He seams to take care of them and I believe he loves them so I feel good about letting him keep and treat them.

Im sad and chinchillaless now though.

Why would he need to give you proof of a vet visit? He gave you the money back so the deal is done, they are not your chinchillas anymore and IMO the chinchillas got the shaft and did not go to a vet. He just did not want you to sue him for vet bills, that is what I read into this.

I asked him for proof. He had no problem with providing it so I dont see why he would be lieing.
Why is it so hard for people to just accept that someone is maybe doing the right thing?
I asked for help on the situation, you guys gave advise, I did what I thought was right.
If everyone on this forum is gunna be like this, I wont ask for help anymore.
He was a nice guy and didnt know they had a problem, I mean how would he? They didnt have the discharge at all when I was over picking thm out. I looked them over myself.
I am sure there are great breeders out there who have had a problem with selling a chinchilla with a "issue" and not knowing it.
Can you guys try and stop saying things about the situation until you actually know for a fact about it because thats pretty rude of you.

I am sorry, but if you got these chins from who I think you did....they were not taken to the vet. As far as the proof, it would not be that hard to type up a fake vet bill in Microsoft Word. I am not trying to be rude, but rather state a fact.

If you had owned the chinchillas for a week, or a month, would you have taken them to the vet yourself? At a certain point a person has to take responsibility for the animal that they chose to buy.

MODS: If the first paragraph is not appropriate, please delete it.

Yes, I would have taken them to the vet! I was going to take them all to the vet LIKE I SAID BEFORE the same night it all started happening. I called the guy to let him know what was going on with the chinchillas he had sold me and he offered to take them to the vet himself since he sold them to me like that.

Just whatever. Im gunna stay off the forum if people are gunna be like this.

I dont see what I did SO wrong.
