She deffinatly looks like she is gaining weight. Keep up the good work! I'm keeping her in my prayers.

You probably don't see it because you look at her every day, but she looks a TON better. The abcess looks better, her face looks better, and even her eyes look better. Is she still on the antibiotics?

My prayers are with you and the baby.I have read this post since it was up and I am so happy to see and hear that shes made progress. Good job and kudos to you!!

Wow, she's got so big! Brave, brave little one. So glad things are going in the right direction for you both x

She already looks a ton better than those first photos. She reminds me of a little mosaic that was in my first litter. He was the smallest of a set of quads and his siblings beat the heck out of him and chewed up one entire side of his face. It was a lot of hard work, feeding him and taking care of his injuries, but it was worth it. Once he healed, his fur grew back and he became a beautiful chinchilla.

Oh that precious little sweet pea!! I just want to scoop her up and love all over her. No matter her fate..........you have done a wonderful job thus far.

She's looking great, you keep these photos because in 6 months you'll need them to remember what happened...

Lots of great healing thoughts for her!

Thank you everyone! Since yesterday she has been at the door wanting out to be fed/handled constantly! She also drew blood, but I told her i'd do the same thing :D She is not on the antibiotic at the moment. The vet requested that I take her off of it two days prior to the follow up. She said that we could tell easier that way if she still needed to be on it. The visual infection is clear, but I don't know much, so that's what the vet/you guys are there for.

Nicole- I know, right? I'm hoping she heals well and that I can't even tell it happened. It's hard to remember what she looked like 2 days ago, forget 1 week ago :p

I read everything you guys say and I appreciate all of your help and kind wishes. She has angels watching over her :)

I'm so happy your kit has been showing signs of improvement and that you haven't given up on her! Nicole is right, that this will be behind you and a distant memory. This kit is quite the fighter! I think we have all fallen in love with her!

I think the pictures of the kit and your vet bills/recounting how many times you went/how long it took you to get there (you couldn't drive safely one day)-- might do some good in the "Horror Stories" section. Just a thought a had when reading this and praying for the little one's recovery!
Also, she kind of looks like an Aye-aye from the most recent pictures you posted of her.

So...I've been one of those people obsessed with this thread but not posted!! I'm ecstatic she is getting better.

She does look loads better!! The big bump on her head has really minimized. I put the two pictures of her head from when you found the abscess and the most recent one side by side (attached it!!) and you can tell the entire bump looks way better, probably from the abscess draining and beginning to heal all the infection under the skin. I bet she going to be one of those weirdly comfortable chins with you when this is all over. Are you going to keep her?

I've been following this thread silently until now. Today I just want to wish you and the little girl all the best and a full prompt recovery in the near future.
Keep up the great work super-chinny-mom!

Thank you for posting that Caiti, it really shows how much she's improved! I do plan on keeping her if she makes it :) I have a follow up this afternoon and will let you all know how she's doing.

I woke up this morning to a cute little baby from a mom I didn't even know was pregnant(I attached a pic before you ask!). Maybe I can foster? And I do not strictly breed for tans before you say anything LOL i've only had 2!

I know the picture makes the abscess look bad, but it isn't as big as it looks! Look how pink it is, no nasty whitey yellow stuff anymore! (I had just cleaned it)

Oh, and great news! Guess what? HER HAIR IS GROWING BACK <3 YAY! (that's what the blackness on her head is!)
Thank you everyone!

I'm so glad she's getting better!!! I've been routing for her since day one. My friend had a dog that was mulled by the father and was the runt. She had abscesses like crazy. They named her Trooper. Maybe that'll help spark a name for her ^_^

Your tan baby is adorable!! I can't wait to add a dark tan to my family. His/her name is gonna be Godiva, or Heaven ^_~
