Sorry guys for not giving updates a lot. It has been crazy here. I'm not really sure what to say. There is a only a slight improvement in the abscess, BUT she is eating a ton and is very active. She has been eating pellets and hay also. Her eyes look a lot better and i've gotten an ointment that is keeping them from drying out. I have a follow up with the vet on Monday, but if I don't see an improvement I will be going sooner. She is kind of a little..meanie pants. She bites very hard everytime I try to clean her up, but luckily im only having to do that every so often. I'm having to feed her every hour, but it's okay right now because my mother feeds her during the day and I feed her during the night. Keep praying for her guys. She's been improving and if it weren't for your advice/thoughts/prayers she would definitely not be here right now.

ETA: Pictures soon :) Promise!

That sounds pretty positive, Erin.

She may be biting you when you clean her up because she is sore - the multiple bites will be sore, that's for sure. As they slowly heal that will improve though.

I think she has a lot of silent followers... I am one as well. Keep fighting baby, we are pulling for you.

Remember her body is little and is trying to grow and get going too. It's taken a huge shock and healing takes time. Eating and being spunky is the best thing to get right now, for the head to fully heal may take a month or two, maybe longer. Her body has to heal from the inside out.

As for her biting you, she may also just be scared, give her time. Soon you won't be able to get her away from you!

Oh, I figured she was biting because of the pain. She bites hard though! Today she is doing about the same. She ate a little more. I have to get a battery for my scale because mine died today :/ But it's pretty obvious she's gaining. Her "sister" is also doing well with no attacks from mama.

It may be pain or that she's scared or both...

I'd say it's more scared than anything. She doesn't act like it hurts (though i'm sure it does). But with her limited sight at the moment..well..i'd be bitting too. She bites anything she can find (like when I burrito her she bites the towel).

ETA: If she does make it though (Which I will do everything possible) she will be my special little girl <3

Does she have a name? I know she might not with everything that's happened but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask. :]

I can't even think of a name :/ I've been calling her Angel though, but I haven't decided yet. She's definitely improving though. I don't see any signs of brain damage. If it weren't for the big hole in her head, she'd be a completely healthy baby <3

I'm always amazed by the resilence of baby animals, as well as the strong bond that forms when caring for those that are sickly. Lady and I send our prayers for a full recovery, and long happy life for your little one.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! Her head is starting to dry up (not the abscess, but the area around it) is there anything I can use to keep it from getting too dry?

If you have her in an area with like fleece bedding/liner you could probably rub a little Vaseline on, be warned everything yucky will try to stick to it like shavings, dust, etc. I think as long as the area is clean you should be okay with that. If it is skin there, then the drying up should be okay, if it's some tissue that needs to heal more, keeping it moist is better because it help promote tissue growth

I just took these :) Keep in mind this is before I cleaned her (and her eyes are not covered even though they look like it, there are scabs below her eyes). Also, I think I have good news. The vet told me to clean the yellow/white stuff out of the abscess everyday and to use saline (as you guys suggested also) to clean it. Well usually it looks the same, but today (After I took these pics) when I went to clean it, there was very little. I think by tomorrow it will all be cute pink flesh! Is the vet right, is that good?
